This shield is for those who run a low mounted air intake (aka fender well intakes) which drops the filter into the bumper behind the chrome brake duct scoop in the bumper. This will enclose your filter and prevent it from getting wet and covered in road debris.

After running different versions of these on local trucks with great results I decided to post these up. It's an all aluminum air box that uses the factory bumper hardware in the front and the rear requires drilling 4 holes in the stock plastic wheel well liner. Once those holes are drilled you clip on the supplied U-nuts and bolt the air box on.

The bead rolling ends at the rear drains. Any water that does manage to come in through the front will run back in the bead rolled grooves and right out the rear drains. Even if water does manage to get in through the front scoop as long as your filter is mounted correctly it will not get your filter.

These work great for those of you who...
-Run a low mounted intake and use automatic car washes
(the undersprayers blast the filter)
-Live in a place with snow and are sick of having your air filter caked in snow and ice.
-Run a larger filter than your little plastic wheel well liner can cover and your tire throws water and road debris on your air filter.
-Are sick of cleaning/re-oiling the filter so often because it's getting soaked all the time.
-Want to reduce the risk of hydrolocking your engine!
-Additional Information-
-Made of aluminum (no worries of rust)
-Black in color to match chassis/undercarriage
-Waterjet cut (very nice edges)
-Very lightweight, weighs in at only 1lb 3oz with all mounting hardware.
-Bead rolled for extra strength
-Drains at rear of air box
(for any water that manages to get in through bumper scoop)
-Where the two sides of the box meet up there is a spot for 3 rivets that you will install based on the fit to your vehicle (all vehicles are slightly different here)

To the right you can see a low mount intake without the air box on it. One of the biggest problems running the intake this way is in wet conditions water flies off of the tire and right onto your filter, rapidly decreasing its useable life and requiring constant cleaning and re-oiling. The stock plastic wheel well liner just isn't big enough to cover the filter from the tire kick up.
-If you plan on keeping your vehicle long enough this air box can pay for itself just in what it saves you in filter replacements!
